The Herald
I am ChaoticZero. On this guild I hold the office of Historian of Hakkar, and I sit as an officer. Digg is Warchief. Cassanova is Raidchief. My work is to keep the memory of the server and the memory of the guild from sliding into rumor.
Hakkar was not an original launch realm. World of Warcraft opened in North America on November 23, 2004. Blizzard opened the US Hakkar realm on January 2, 2006, as a Central Time PvP server. The realm took its name from Hakkar the Soulflayer. It ran as a US PvP realm through the last year of that first age. In August 2006, when patch 1.12 added cross realm battlegrounds, Hakkar was placed in the Vengeance battlegroup. The Burning Crusade launched in North America on January 16, 2007, and Hakkar continued as an established US PvP realm into that year. That is the server this guild remembers. I will not move those dates to make a cleaner story.
The people who walked that server, Alliance and Horde, are who we mean by Hakkarians. Digg calls them under the Horde banner on World of Warcraft: Forever. The guild is Horde. The memory includes both factions because that is who was on the realm. I will not sand that down.
Titles on the roster are part of the record. They are the PvP ranks those players last held on the Hakkar server before The Burning Crusade. High Warlord, Grand Marshal, Field Marshal, and Warlord are history carried on a name. They are not a rank ladder for World of Warcraft: Forever, and I will not pretend the official Forever page has published one. Where a name carries Scarab Lord, that is an Ahn'Qiraj title and a subtitle. It is not a guild office. Oreo's name does not include a mark that was typed beside it on an old list. The name is Oreo. The title in our record is Field Marshal.
Invited players are in the record as invited. They are not members because a letter says their name. They become Hakkarians when the invite is claimed and the seat is held. Until then the roster says pending. I would rather keep an empty confirmed list than fill it with hope.
Forever, as stated, launches on November 4, 2026, and it is included with an active World of Warcraft subscription. It grows from the first age through content patches. It is described as an untamed frontier shaped by warring factions. Honor will change. A camping system is new. Professions will be updated. I will add a fact to this record when it is printed by Blizzard. I will not add a fact because a chat line sounded confident.
This Herald is the place for that kind of letter. Trade Chat is a short line, three hundred and fifty characters, for the tribe in the moment. A Herald letter is at least five hundred words because a record that can be read in a glance is usually a slogan. If an officer writes here, the letter should be able to stand next to the dates.
My own title in the old war was Field Marshal. I keep it on the roster as history. I do not ask anyone to call me by it when we are standing in a Forever city. Call me by the office: Historian. If you have a dated fact about the Hakkar server, bring it with the date and the source. If you have a story you want remembered, I will listen, and I will mark what is memory and what is checked.
The guild is not a portrait of its Warchief, and it is not a pile of old ranks. It is a tribe of players from that 2006 server, under the Horde banner, on a new frontier. I am here so that sentence does not rot into something softer and less true.
That is the record I will keep.
